Horse Updates/Notes

'24 May

Very good colt, plenty of size and lots of natural strength coming from the mare, looks like an Into Mischief but colored like her.  Good through limbs for now, pretty straightforward.  Very happy with, she keeps throwing quality.

‘24 June

Little plain through his head like all her foals, good limbs just toes out a bit from both front ankles.  Nice mover, good length of rein.

‘24 July

Looks great, has grown bone and is very solid in every way.  Light on his feet for how strong he is, mare looks super.  Looks like he will be a nice type going forward.

‘24 August

This colt is very, very nice right now.  He’s a touch plain in his head like all her foals, but he’s probably one of the most forward ones at this stage.  No issues with limbs, this mare just seems to raise very solid, straightforward foals.

‘24 Sep

Colt looks great, he’s very straightforward like all her foals and still a lovely mover.  Ready to be weaned.

‘24 Oct/Nov

Lengthening some and had grown more bone recently, starting to see more strength build since we had good rain and the grass has better quality. Strong hind leg and gaskin.

‘24 Dec

Starting to develop in to a lot of horse, this is a very solid colt in every way.  He’s super sound and correct, very light on his feet, impressive as he matures and changes.  Excited to see the Good Magic from this mare.

‘25 Jan

No real issues of note, this colt stays in great shape all the time and he’s had no issues keeping his condition through the lower temps we’ve had.  Still wants to toe out a bit from both front ankles, this will come around, ok.  Super mind, sire is starting to wake up a bit.

‘25 Feb

This colt went a little sore behind, likely tweaked something and seems to be improving after being stalled for a few days.  Dr Barber reckons he aggravated a muscle outside, will monitor.  He’s young and a bit backwards, so we will plan to give him the time September offers.  Will be in the final group of younger yearlings that we scope/ x ray.

‘25 April

This colt went in to the clinic on 3/31 for a lameness evaluation, we could not diagnose his left front stride abnormality and lameness on the farm.  Dr Hopper found an OCD fragment at C7 with lysis and we opted to inject and see if this helps.  His prognosis is guarded, but we will know more in the next two weeks.

‘25 May

This colt lost some weight in his neck and over his ribs from being stalled with his lameness issues.  He has improved some, but not fully.  We have not done a full x ray survey yet or entered him in a yearling sale, just need to see how we get on before we can determine what he’ll be able to handle.

‘25 June

This colt is moving a bit better, his condition was slow to come back after everything he went through but he’s doing as well as we could hope right now.  Will need to circle up and develop a plan for him.  He is not currently entered in a sale, but October could be an option if we need it.
